Plant around your first frost. Only long growing season areas can plant in the spring and get really good cloves. But you can probably get some nice green garlic by planting in the spring. It might have really small cloves if you pick it at the normal time.Daphne Gouldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17305049560953735881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-13753730285561514412011-10-28T18:19:27.627-04:002011-10-28T18:19:27.627-04:00I would like to try garlic, but I wonder if I shou...I would like to try garlic, but I wonder if I should plant in the Fall or in the Spring. Will it survive temps of -40* and come up in the Spring? I guess I have some research to do, but for this coming summer I am going to have to do a Spring planting as my ground is already frozen solid.Gaylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08121205250839003802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-70735582738043758032011-10-28T11:05:41.550-04:002011-10-28T11:05:41.550-04:00I planted my garlic and onions last week. I always appreciate seeing the garlic coming up in the wee early phases of spring when nothing else is stirring in the garden.kitsapFGhttp://www.modernvictorygarden.com/apps/blog/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-35394687170959410432011-10-28T00:37:17.465-04:002011-10-28T00:37:17.465-04:00I keep forgetting to plant mine :( Hopefully I'...I keep forgetting to plant mine :( Hopefully I'll remember tomorrow!Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15192378197271824011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-24428137720147561312011-10-27T23:49:15.925-04:002011-10-27T23:49:15.925-04:00Planted mine this year for the first time ever. In fact some varieties grow better here in the cold than they do in warmer climates.Daphne Gouldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17305049560953735881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-17438242056068736812011-10-27T15:16:28.049-04:002011-10-27T15:16:28.049-04:00I know you have great success with garlic. We planted 5 rows, 8 inches apart. The cloves are 6 inches apart in the row and 3 inches deep, and we gave them an inch of straw and black plastic cover. Does that sound like it will work?Jodyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05442310215979259623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-22767846374553293322011-10-27T15:08:28.301-04:002011-10-27T15:08:28.301-04:00thanks for the reminder I need to get mine planted...thanks for the reminder I need to get mine planted today too!Mrs.Pickleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07678592143938874654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-37452798765279104822011-10-27T14:52:35.866-04:002011-10-27T14:52:35.866-04:00Mine are planted.
