I've never grown it though since it is a bush bean. I like the way poles look too much. A weird way to pick a plant but I used to grow summer squash when I still wouldn't eat it because I loved the way the plants looked.

Mrs. Darling, thanks

Cheryl, I usually shred them into my salads. They have a really nice mild taste. I also stir fry them occasionally (don't cook too long or they turn to mush). Most people use them as stuffed squash blossoms, but I don't like fried food that much so I don't do it anymore.

kitsapFG, I didn't have photos of all my harvests either. I picked berries but if you notice there are no berry photos this week. Last week I had two so I figured I'd pictured them enough :> I also forget to take photos sometimes especially when I'm busy.

Tomatolover, thanks. Right now my sungolds are looping around the top of the cages. The old leaves get cut off and the new ones take their place. I think I should just grow them with a mesh about two feet off the ground and let them sprawl on the mesh. It might be easier.

Emily, thanks. Of course if it is nachos I really do need a hot jalapeno. Luckily the ones harvested today are hotter. I think if our warm sunny weather keeps up we will get some nice hot peppers soon.

easygardener, I love the selection now that the summer veggies are starting to come in.

Michelle, yes I've heard about them. Mine are supposed to be hot. They are the Early Jalapenos that Pinetree sells. They are starting to get hotter now that we are getting some sun.
To freeze zucchini, just grate it and freeze. I don't blanch. It defrosts a bit watery, but works great for zucchini bread (don't drain before using or the bread will be dry), soups and casseroles. I usually freeze it premeasured so I can just thaw and toss in my recipes.Daphne Gouldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17305049560953735881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-27146334639806769582009-08-03T15:15:18.039-04:002009-08-03T15:15:18.039-04:00Daphne, did you know that there are mild jalapenos...Daphne, did you know that there are mild jalapenos available now? When our winter hits we will be able to drool over all your veggies. It will inspire us as we try to figure out what seed to buy. In my winter, I won't be harvesting anything except icicles and snowflakes. We get pretty frozen so lettuce and snowpeas sounds pretty good.

Michelle, I think you are right. I had no clue as to what a serrano looked like. I hadn't ever used them before in cooking. The tags on the peppers got all messed up this spring. I was just guessing. I've always grown jalapenos and the peppers looked a bit blocky for them. But this is a new source of jalapenos, so I think they grow slightly differently than my old plants did. The other peppers are much more pointy. I'll have to change my Excel sheet. BTW they are still too mild for jalapenos. Usually I don't chop and seed them with gloves (I'm crazy I know) and there was really no pain involved at all. I'm used to getting punished if I get the seeds under my fingernails, but not this time. Even the seeds and white part was mild.Daphne Gouldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17305049560953735881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-47560961225538932952009-08-03T10:25:21.638-04:002009-08-03T10:25:21.638-04:00Hi Daphne, another nice haul from the garden there...Hi Daphne, another nice haul from the garden there!

I'm wondering if you got your serranos and jalapenos mixed up - those look a lot like jalapenos to me. Serranos are thinner, have pointier tips and thinner stems, and are usually hotter than jalapenos - which would explain the lack of heat.

I'm putting together my harvest post now.Michellehttp://fromseedtotable.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-73053538953643270912009-08-03T10:02:14.705-04:002009-08-03T10:02:14.705-04:00Hi Daphne, such a great harvest and a top idea for...Hi Daphne, such a great harvest and a top idea for a post. All you need to do is take photos and/or talk about your harvest. You don't even need to do a whole week's worth. You can just highlight one thing if you want. I do a tally, but you don't have to.

Ali, I know how you feel. My next weeks tally will be really small. I'll be gone most of the time - including Monday. I'll still have my post scheduled so people can join in though. My harvest will be tiny. But the next one ought to make up for it :>

Amanda, tomatoes are always my favorite.
