Well, I've grown the ornamental varieties we sell at work last year, but this is the first year of growing a meant-to-be-eaten variety. I'm still not sure I like them (they're not very common in Austria, so I've had no time to become used to the taste yet), but the plants are pretty, and I think they'll grow reasonably well in my balcony garden.Ivynettlehttp://ivynettle.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3698134075709295915.post-12098140679096580542012-03-13T11:36:11.114-04:002012-03-13T11:36:11.114-04:00I've never tried planting sweet potatoes, only...I've never tried planting sweet potatoes, only potatoes. Have had no success at all here in the desert. However I have found this info page http://www.sandhillpreservation.com/pages/sweetpotato_catalog.html and I've made some of these mistakes so that is probably why I haven't had good luck yet. I'm going to start some slips from a store potato and try growing them this way.
