Ladybug

I saw the first ladybug in the garden yesterday. I hope she stays. I need them to eat all the aphids on my fava beans. As you can see she is coated in pollen. Until it started raining, everything was. I dusted yesterday and the furniture was covered in it.

  1. Yeah for the first ladybug! I have a lot of ladybugs at the plots. Not enough to kill all the aphids that were on my tomatoes though. I made a spray consisting of 2 Cups chopped Potato Leaves steep in 2 Cups of water overnight and then strain and add 2 more Cups of water. It really worked. I guess that due to your sensitivity, you wouldn't be able to handle the spray.

My Favas are being attacked by ants again this year. I've been using cinnamon on them. We shall see how well it works.

  3. I saw my first red ladybug in several years just the other day. So much of the time, I only ever see orange ones.

  4. One year I bought a 1000 of them to let go in the garden, lol. That was years ago so maybe we need another batch.

  6. Great picture! I love how you can see the detail of the pollen. I'm hoping to spot a few ladybugs in my garden soon.

  8. How pretty. I haven't spotted any in the garden yet. The pollen is bad in my area too, I had a sneezing fit this morning.

  9. Every year I order a bunch of baby lady bugs and Dallas raises them for me. I love to see them in the garden and he loves to watch them grow up. I think this year we may try to raise other beneficial insects.

  10. Beautiful picture!

I've seen two in my garden in the last week. I love lady bugs! Any time I see one anywhere other than the garden I try to relocate her to the garden.
