Harvest Monday, July 8th, 2013
I didn't harvest many but had enough to put on my cereal a couple of days.
There was lots of rhubarb this week.
I've never had a fava harvest like this before. Not quite sure why it was so good this year. It could be the nice spring weather.
Basil and peas. This is probably the last of the peas for the year.
Carrots, carrots, and more carrots. I'll be eating these all summer. Luckily carrots keep very well in the fridge.
With four heads of broccoli I got 3 pounds and 10 ounces. So these were nice big heads. Not the prettiest, but they taste good.
And last but not least, I harvested the garlic. It won't get into the tally for a while as it has to dry down first.

Wow, that's a lot of rhubarb! And favas, and carrots, and garlic. I'm afraid I've been neglecting my garden, it's way too hot to go outside! I did harvest a few things. I'm going to have to look into my camera to recall. None as impressive as yours, of course!
ReplyDeleteYour garlic looks great. And the carrots too. I need to start digging our carrots soon. And I'm looking for things to do with rhubarb. I'm thinking I will freeze some for use later.
ReplyDeleteFabulous haul! I have yet to really get carrots that are worthwhile. Your garlic is inspiring, I am so hoping to have good garlic this year, so far the plants are looking really strong.
ReplyDeleteVery nice harvest! Of course I envy your carrots as I have such difficulty growing them. Yours look so good all piled up like that. I love it when the blueberries begin trickling in a little at a time. I was looking at our blueberries just yesterday to see if any were turning. Not yet, but soon.
ReplyDeleteHolly cow that's a lot of carrots and beans! Your garlic and broccoli looks very nice too.
ReplyDeleteGreat harvest. That is a lot of produce to process. The carrots are really nice. I don't have the bed depth to grow the longer ones.
ReplyDeleteI totally wish I could get my garlic to look that good. Mine is always so pathetically small, it's painful to look it.
ReplyDeleteYou were just raking it in this week! The carrots look really beautiful. You were smart to bring them all in at one time to avoid carrot fly issues and they really do hold excellently in the fridge for a very long time making that a viable option. Nice garlic harvest too. I just pulled mine this week as well.
ReplyDeleteLooks great - for some reason I only got one measly blueberry from two plants this year. . .not sure what happened. My blackberries and raspberries did better and they are right next to each other. So jealous of your carrots!
ReplyDeleteWow that is a lot of garlic and carrots. Very impressive.
ReplyDeleteBlueberries! YUM! Love, love, love. Besides - add some strawberries and some whip cream and then you have a red white and blue dessert! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe harvest looks fantastic as usual! I'm really missing having fresh homegrown favas this year. sniff sniff.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well!
Your carrots are beautiful and plentiful. Isn't it amazing that they grow from such a small seed?
ReplyDeleteI've been cooking my rhubarb with other fruits such as apples or plums. It's wonderful. Rhubarb tartness softened and the other fruit's flavor shines. It's a great extender for jams too. I'll post on this later this week.
Thanks for inspiring us every week!
Your garlic looks great!! And that's a ton of carrots!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful harvests! You've got such a great variety of things coming out of the garden, it's such a sight to see after a week of zucchini dominated harvests from my garden. By the way, I've given up on the zucchini chip experiments, they are just too fussy to make for the results.
ReplyDeleteI love your Harvest Monday idea. I love to see what other gardeners are growing. I submitted a Harvest Monday post for the first time today! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteTerrific harvest in spite of the heat, perfect for curing garlic!
ReplyDeleteAmazing spring harvests you're still getting!
ReplyDeleteFava beans are delicious and their odd growth pattern is so interesting to watch. I always overwinter fava broad beans from a fall planting, it is so nice not to have plant them during a wet early spring.
Oh my gosh, all those carrots! How do you do it? I have such a hard time getting a decent carrot patch going and this year in particular! Mine take forever to grow. Everything you harvested looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteThat's at least 5 times as much garlic as I have. Your carrots look really nice and straight.
ReplyDeleteWhoa abundance harvest there, my carrots are still very tiny, maybe another month or two.
ReplyDeleteWOW what an amazing harvest!
ReplyDeleteGreat harvest of fava beans, basil, carrots, broccoli and garlic! Great to have such a nice variety. Your blueberrys look yummy even tho there are just a few. I have a few on the bush not ripe yet! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I am very jealous of those carrots!!!
ReplyDeleteThose fava beans look plump and delicious. I've had them on my list of things to try growing, but I've never gotten around to planting them.. perhaps next spring. Lovely carrots and garlic too!
ReplyDeleteYour harvest looks great, all laid out. I'm posting here for the first time, mostly about what I am currently growing though some harvest stuff. I live in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) and the cold nights here put a lot of our crops behind the warmer parts of the country.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your garlic. My first attempt was a total failure! I'm going to try again this fall. Any tips?
ReplyDeleteOh man...not even sure what to talk about here...blueberries and favas and garlic and carrots and...!? Holy moly...
