Signs of Spring?

Today we are getting a warm spell. I say that but my weather station tells me it is only 39F as I type. But it will break 40F and it is raining. The rain really does a good job of melting snow. I looked out my window this morning and saw this.

Whoohoo! I can see the garden again. I do believe in spring I do!

  1. The Weather channel says we'll be up in the 50s next week, but our local paper says 45-48. After this week's single digits and teens, that sounds pretty good to me. If the wind doesn't blow, it will be good garden cleanup weather, and my garden is in desperate need of some TLC!

  2. We have a windy 67 here in Raleigh, North Carolina. When I am waiting for spring I am thankful I live in the south..then when I am melting in August I feel the need to escape!!!

  3. The wind and rain are incredible! It's melting the snow, but slowly. I'm starting to be able to see one of my raised beds. The rest is still buried. Spring will arrive soon!

  6. Glad yours is melting. For us it was another 10 inches of snow. Spring will come eventually but in the mean time I'm going cross country skiing.

  7. High in the low 80's today. I started planting tomatoes and peppers out last weekend. I just finished planting the baby eggplants outside this evening. Praying we don't have a cold snap! Very excited to see your garden. :)

  9. Granny, I still have that last bit of snow to melt. The rainstorm turned to snow at the end too. Sigh. It wasn't much though - just a dusting.

Jeremy, I wish we had those tmeps right now. But you are right. Here in the summer it doesn't get as hot.

The Mom, I hope it gets here. I want warm temps.

Veggie Pak, GrafixMuse I hope i see it soon. Go spring.

Emily, oh no. Not more snow. I wish I could go skiing. I broke my toe a couple weeks ago so hopefully it will be healed up for planting time. At least I didn't do it in April.

Katrina, 80s wow. I can only imagine.

EG, usually i like snow, but it has been too snowy this year. Some years it is bare ground all winter long and that isn't good either.

  10. the only spring sign here is that I have now occupied the veranda with all my pots ;-)

And...I forgot we now have a temperature above zero Celsius. It was actually 45F here today. The snow is melting!

  11. The snow we had on Monday night/Tuesday morning was washed away by the rain on Thursday/Friday. Everything is frozen again this Saturday morning but there's hope for warmer weather. The sun is climbing higher every day.

  12. I hope for your sake that the snow keeps departing and the beds continue to appear from the depths of the snow. You all deserve a break in this winter already!

We got a deep freeze that settled in and we are getting into the low 20's at the moment. i am worried about the young pie cherry and blueberry bushes as they were getting significant bud swell right before this freeze hit.
