I sent out all the seeds today. You all ought to get them in the next week or so. 36 people were sent seeds, though one bag of seed packets was just tossed over my back fence. I caused them to open a second window at the post office. Now I'm done with that for the year. Whoot! I confess to getting sick of sorting seeds and closed my offer of seeds. So that was my gift to you all.
My gift to myself was a garden shed. I had dithered all summer and fall about whether to get a wooden or plastic one. I just got the cheap plastic one. I figured it would be smaller. Small is good.
It doesn't hold much but the shed is perfectly made for a small garden. One side for tools and one side for fertilizer. My old plastic fertilizer boxes fit perfectly side by side on the shelves. Now if I just had one more of them. I really ought to label those boxes too. I had labels on them over a decade ago, but they have long since worn off. I've got to put the Sluggo in there too. The slugs are having a field day in the garden this fall. Luckily there isn't much for them to eat anymore. But I'm sure they are breeding up a storm.
What kind of shed did you get and where did you purchase it? Ultimately I want a Reeds Ferry shed but there is no way I can get one of those yet and this looks perfect for my immediate needs. Hopefully it won't have to give an arm and a leg for it.
ReplyDeleteYay, I'm looking forward to finding seeds in my mailbox! After all that packaging you deserve a shed!
ReplyDeleteThat's very neat. I find shed organization a challenge. Small would probably have helped.
ReplyDeleteApril. I got it from www.wayfair.com
ReplyDeleteIt cost about $400. I used Wayfair because it was free shipping. The one thing is that you do have to be home when they bring it. Their email stated that the driver wouldn't take it off the truck. That proved to be false however. He put it on his trolly and helped to bring it all the way to where I wanted it. I guess it depends on the shipping company they use and which driver you get. But if it were true then you would need to have two people there to take it off.
That's a nice shed! Thanks so much for taking the time and all the expense of sending the seeds out!
ReplyDeleteIt's been buggy here too, from all this warm weather!
Great looking shed. I'm tellin' ya next year ask for $4 or something- it would have saved up half the cost of yuor shed!
ReplyDelete:-D Besides I know a bunch of people that would pay it just because we like where the seeds come from.
Congrats on your well deserved shed!!!
ReplyDeleteCheap plastic one. Hmmm. Let's see... no painting, no rust, no rot, no water damage, no roof leaks, easily relocatable... I'd say you made the right choice! It looks great to me. It instantly made me think of what I could put in one to save space in my workshop.
ReplyDeleteI am just getting into saving seed and understand where you are coming from sorting them and cleaning them all. In September I hosted 16 gardeners here from 8 States and Canada and they had a big seed swap on my deck that Saturday. I couldn't believe all of the seed they had brought with them. Now they have a seed train going around to some of those who couldn't make the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI don't get involved very much as most I know don't have the same growing season as I do and try to grow only what I know with mature here. I do have a few tomato seed that I need to get into the mail for some friends but that is about it. It is getting expensive especially when they want starts of plants.
Forgot to mention I like your shed. I am afraid mine is much larger to hold the equipment for maintaining this property and still there is a lot of gardening stuff that has to be stored in the garage.
ReplyDeleteVery cute shed. I can imagine a gnome statue beside it. I am sure people that will received them will be very happy.
ReplyDeleteHi Daphne...that's one good looking garden shed...i'd love to get one if i could find it here...for the time being,i keep my gardening tools on a simple metal rack..;)
