Harvest Monday, 20 April 2015

Whoohoo! Another harvest. Again it was small.

It consisted of small bits of mizuna, Red Sails lettuce, mache, and chives.

Unlike last week when I had a small harvest and doled it out slowly. This time I had my first garden salad of the year. I ate the whole harvest at once.

Though I'm certainly thrilled to be getting something from the garden, the harvests are tiny. It is hard to imagine in a month I'll be getting enough to feed myself for the most part again. Well as long as I like greens and radishes. Everything is just so small now and I'm waiting for a lot of seeds to germinate.

Harvest Monday is a day to show off your harvests, how you are saving your harvest, or how you are using your harvest. If you have a harvest you want to show off, add your name and link to Mr Linky below.

  1. Very colorful salad, my plants are still tiny making a note to start my salad seedlings earlier next year.

  2. Ditto what Norma said - the greens are so very colorful! It looks like they are helping you jump start the growing season.

  3. Salads are done here. I wish it were easier to keep lettuce going in Florida. It's so hot all summer we eat more salad than anything else. LOL

  4. Small but good! Things grow SO fast at this time of year, you'll be feasting on homegrown goodies in no time.

  5. Your harvest may be small, but its also colourful. I'm pining for home-grown Lettuce, but it will be a while before I get any. The Ramps (we call them Ramsons or Wild Garlic) will probably take over your garden now - they seem to spread very rapidly. Isn't it nice to get something unexpected like that - almost like a free bonus.

  7. Hi Daphne, I guess we all need patience this time of year! Your lettuces are so pretty. Could be on a cover of a magazine! Nancy

  8. Ooh what a tasty looking salad! I did think for a second that it said Snails lettuce, not quite so nice as red sails lettuce!

  10. Must be nice to have that first salad. And with a nice variety of greens as well. Still weeks away for me.

  11. Oh, lucky, lucky you. My lettuce should have been sown this week, so already I will be a week behind on the harvest. Simply can't wait - store bought lettuce just doesn't compare.
