Excitement

The strawberries have started. I picked a good handful of them. But even more exciting . . .

My daughter decided to come home for the summer for a couple of months. And she brought her dog with her. I lost my dog a few years ago. It is nice having a dog in the house again. Well except the chewing and the fur. My daughter timed her visit well. She loves strawberries. I picked the first ones right before she showed up.

So with the kids here (my son is up to visit for Mother's Day and to see his sister and the new dog) I haven't been gardening much. I did decide my neglect wasn't doing the basil plants any good and I planted them which took all of one minute since the bed had been prepared when I planted the fava beans. But the basil was outside and wilting and getting sunburnt. I figured if they were going to get sunburnt I might as well just plant them. At least they won't wilt from lack of water then. Or too much when it rains.

  2. I'm glad you enjoyed your time with your children and the dog. That dog is beautiful, as is the strawberry! I keep looking at my berry blossoms and willing them to become luscious berries, but they're not even close yet.

  5. Oh, happy times! Will the dog be able to get in the garden? I love my dogs, but I don't love having dogs, if that makes sense. These are the Last Dogs. But your picture reminds me that with four children, they may not be the Last Dogs. . .

  6. Love the strawberry. We cleared some land last year, for a future strawberry and asparagus bed. Can't wait til it produces. Nice about your daughter. I will have a son home this summer. Wish they could all be here at the same time!
