Harvest Monday March 4th, 2013

I got back from vacation over the weekend. My onions are growing strongly. My husband never had to water them, but he pet them every evening for me. Soon I'll have to start some of the early spring greens like baby bok choy and lettuce. The garden is still snow covered but it seems to be melting out rapidly. That is the good news. The bad news is that my weather station isn't connecting to my computer. Not sure why. But I'll be losing all that wonderful weather data for the time being. I've got too much to do right now to try many things, but hopefully it won't take long to figure it out.

Since I was gone for the week I don't have any real Harvest Monday things to share. But I'll enjoy seeing all of yours.

Harvest Monday is a day to show off your harvests, how you are saving your harvest, or how you are using your harvest. If you have a harvest you want to show off, add your name and link to Mr Linky below.

  2. My weather station isn't keeping track either. My rain guage isn't working at all. :-( Weird and fickle.

  3. Weather station, ha? I'd like to hear more about that! Our weather here can vary so greatly from block to block (literally), it would be nice to see what's really happening right in my own yard!

No harvests this week, besides eggs, so I shared a post about seed starting (AKA future harvests) :-)

  4. I hope you enjoyed someplace warm for vacation! I sure would love to travel someplace warm, spring just doesn't seem to be showing up quick enough for me! ;)

  5. Ah...snow cover. Petting the onions. I had never heard of that but the rationale (last week) makes sense.

  6. I will remember to pet my onions this week. They don't get much love from me.

  7. I do hope you had a great time on vacation! I'm not sure that I could convince my husband to pet anything other than the cats if I left him to look after things. :)

  8. "Who's a good onion? Who's a special darling?"

  9. Petting the onions, hysterical. I never thought to do that. My bok choy is almost ready to harvest. Can't believe how fast it is growing. I have been getting adequate harvests but have no time to post. We are stuck in home remodeling hell. See today's post at Green World.

  12. I was "petting" some of my seedlings while doing a bottom watering of them this weekend, and thought of you the whole time. :D

I gave up on my fancy weather station and have gone back to an old fashioned rain guage and outdoor thermometer. The other one just gave me problems on a consistent basis.

  13. Welcome home from your vacation! Glad your onions came through good for your husband. I don't have any harvest to share either except "hope for harvest in the future"! Nancy

  14. Did you have to harden your onions off to your husbands petting or did they take to it like champs? Great imagery.

    1. As soon as they come up I start petting them. So they are always used to it.

  15. I'm glad to hear your onions are growing strongly. Ours too! We planted our Chinese brassicas 2 weeks ago. They look very tender by comparison to the others. They seem to be doing alright. Still, I'm afraid they'll get too big inside before it warms up enough to put them out. When generally do you recommend putting them out in our timezone?
